hip-latinoamérica, a.c. is a non-profit organization based in mexico which works in collaboration with and supports programs for hispanics in philanthropy (hip), a us based non-profit organization working with a transnational network of grantmakers committed to strengthening latinx communities across the americas. Together hip connects and convenes funders, nonprofits, researchers, and other leaders to identify emerging needs among latinx as well as best practices for responsive and effective funding of social change. Hip pioneers new philanthropic models by leading collaborative initiatives and has provided grants and training to help build the capacity of more than 800 organizations and leaders.

The knowledge & grants manager will be a core member of the transforming philanthropic practice (tpp) team, as well as a resource for all staff in areas of learning and evaluation, knowledge management, grants management, and best practices for our robust and highly responsive grantmaking across multiple program areas including migration and forced displacement, climate justice, power building and justice, gender equity, and others. The knowledge & grants manager will center equity and community-driven knowledge in this position and be creative in gathering and managing information sources to inform learning and decision-making across our programs. This position relies on successfully: building relationships across internal teams and with our grantee partners, managing information about and from multiple program areas, creating shared processes and workflows, ensuring existing tools and databases are strategically used and recommending improvements on how we capture and understand data for learning and storytelling to inform the field of philanthropy. They will also help capture knowledge shared by our partners and the field to inform how hip evolves its work to achieve its mission.

*core responsibilities*
knowledge management and learning
- conceptualize and connect lessons from data and knowledge shared by partners/clients/members/peers/other sources to support refinement of hip’s philanthropic practices, protocols, and services;
- engage staff and partners in building new knowledge products for internal and external audiences (including funders and clients), and contribute to development and management of knowledge systems such as a library of partner-centered information and general resources library on the sector;
- co-lead implementation of learning and evaluation practices and design new frameworks for ongoing learning, refinement, and understanding of impact across the organization;
- support partnerships with research and data organizations to ensure continuity of relationships, data integrity of information shared with hip, and advocate for latinx voice and inclusion in philanthropic data and research in general;
grants management and support services
- manage hip’s grants administration processes in smartsimple and provide partnership and support to hip staff and grantee partners, including technical assistance and training;
- maintain integrity of grants data and work across teams to anticipate grant cycle needs, including reporting to funders and the field;
- propose and implement process and workflow improvements in smartsimple and grantmaking best practices to best serve partners and the field; and support the
finance team with compliance, grants documentation, and reporting;
- serve as point of contact between staff, grantees, and smart simple to oversee needed changes to the system (and implement changes in-house as appropriate)

philanthropic practice and hip - general
- serve as primary project manager for the philanthropic practice program including planning, budgeting, and client/grantee services across diverse projects;
- prepare clear and accessible materials that shape complex data into easy-to-use tools for hip’s board docket, communications, and external facing reports and issue briefs;
- help grantee convenings, workshops, and webinars as needed to support the establishment of communities of practice for tpp and across hip;
- conduct desk research on core issues and trends in philanthropy; and
- other duties as needed and/or assigned to support hip’s mission.

*qualifications*:

- 5+ years of combined experience in areas of knowledge management or experience-based learning, system administration, grantmaking, and/or project management;
- experience with learning and evaluation practices, methods, and frameworks;
- familiarity with foundations and grantmaking institutions, intermediary philanthropy, and the role of philanthropy support organizations;
- demonstrated project management experience with success managing diverse projects and priorities at the same time;
