As a s&t research, you will conduct research and development of new technologies (products and processes for architectural coatings department) as a part of the engineering team at ppg's polymer research center.
you will lead small technical projects or pieces of a larger technical project and create strategic project deliverables.
you will follow experimental procedures and create reliable data.
you will provide independent thought, contribute to and design your own experiments.
you will report to s&t research chemist lead.
*key responsibilities*
- lead projects using standard ppg technology and methods, or current scientific understanding.
- plan and conduct impactful research to quickly solve technical problems.
- provide technical solutions to challenging problems.
- follow experimental procedures, produce reliable data, and demonstrate the ability to contribute to the design of experiments.
lead independent small projects or portions of larger projects.
- develop project timelines and goals.
- contribute to intellectual property.
- demonstrate and communicate results with the work team through the preparation of technical reports.
- work with areas such as marketing, technical area, processes engineering, and manufacturing.
- be technically aware of industry trends, government regulations, customer requirements, and manufacturing process requirements.
- understand all appropriate operating and testing procedures.
*qualifications*
- master's degree in chemical engineering, polymers science, materials science or equivalent is required.
- 1+ years of r&d experience.
- previous experience in coatings evaluation, coatings formulation, and troubleshooting.
- experience with design of experiments is desirable.
- use statistical tools.
- search and interpret literature and intellectual property.
- fluent english.
