database engineer
position overview
this role is part of our product teams, responsible for creating, enhancing, and supporting databases. They maintain our critical data stores, working alongside product owners, software test engineers, and business stakeholders. Responsibilities include technical design, coding, testing, performance tuning, maintenance, automation, and upgrades.
primary responsibilities
* work on small to medium projects within a team/area
* lead features or refactors alongside peers
* mentor or coach junior database engineers
* design systems or major features in existing systems
additional duties include code reviews, delivering team projects, risk recognition, database design, troubleshooting, data analysis, staying current with database technologies, and ensuring database health and compliance.
education and experience
* bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, it, or related field
* 2+ years in an engineering role
* experience with mongo atlas or amazon aurora postgresql
* experience with aws cloud preferred
* experience with microsoft sql server
* knowledge of sql always on and clustering
* responsibility for database sla
* advanced patching, support for database technologies, compliance, and optimization skills
physical requirements
* ability to sit for long periods (7-8 hours)
* proficiency in operating computers and phone systems, multitasking
