overview responsible for the measurement and budget of construction projects. In charge of cost management from initial to final execution, aiming to minimize costs and improve value for money.
recognized as a technical expert and thought leader within construction, providing consultation to engineering and construction site management.
responsibilities & activities - reviewing construction plans and preparing quantity requirements.
- scrutinizing maintenance and material costs, as well as contracts to ensure the best deals.
- liaising with site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
- preparing reports, analyses, contracts, budgets, risk assessments, and other documents.
- advising managers and clients on improvements and new strategies.
- keeping track of materials and ordering more when required.
- documenting any changes in design and updating budgets.
- establishing and maintaining professional relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
- traveling from the office to various sites as required.
qualifications - bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, engineering (see specialties below), management, or a related college degree, or equivalent in a related field combined with construction estimating or finance experience. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, sound knowledge of construction, excellent negotiating and interpersonal skills.
- those with trade qualifications will typically have 7+ years relevant experience.
