about the role:
this entry-level role is ideal for someone looking to grow their accounting career while gaining hands-on experience in mortgage finance operations.
this role will assist with daily financial transactions, reconciliations, reporting, and supporting month-end close activities specific to mortgage lending.
key responsibilities:
- record and classify financial transactions related to mortgage operations.
- assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports.
- perform bank reconciliations and monitor escrow and trust accounts.
- support the processing of payments to vendors, investors, and third parties.
- help maintain accurate general ledger accounts and subledgers.
- assist with audits and ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
- track and reconcile loan funding, payoffs, and servicing entries.
- collaborate with the loan processing, post-closing, and servicing departments for financial data accuracy.
requirements:
- bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (completed or in progress).
- 1–2 years of accounting experience preferred, ideally in the mortgage, banking, or financial services industry.
- strong understanding of basic accounting principles and gaap.
- proficiency in excel and accounting software (e.g., quickbooks, netsuite, or mortgage-specific platforms).
- attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- willingness to learn mortgage industry regulations and financial workflows.
