traffic and logistics engineer
the traffic and logistics engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing transportation and logistics operations within a tier 1 automotive manufacturing environment. This role ensures the efficient movement of raw materials, components, and finished products between suppliers, production plants, warehouses, and customers while maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and delivery standards.
job summary
* bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, logistics, supply chain management, transportation engineering, or related field.
* experience in automotive manufacturing, preferably in a tier 1 supplier environment.
* knowledge of jit/jis logistics operations and automotive supply chain processes.
* strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* experience with erp systems, sap, tms, and logistics software.
* advanced proficiency in microsoft excel and data analysis tools.
* excellent communication and coordination skills.
* ability to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
* english conversational skills proficient – must.
* automotive tier 1 experience – must.
* minimum 4 years in automotive industry as traffic and logistics engineer.

responsibilities
* analyze and optimize transportation routes, freight costs, and delivery schedules to support jit and jis operations.
* coordinate inbound and outbound logistics activities with suppliers, carriers, warehouses, and manufacturing plants.
* monitor transportation performance indicators such as on‑time delivery, transit times, and freight utilization.
* develop and implement traffic management strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce transportation costs.
* ensure compliance with automotive industry regulations, customs requirements, and safety standards.
* collaborate with production, supply chain, purchasing, and customer service teams to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
* manage carrier relationships, negotiate transportation services, and evaluate logistics providers.
* investigate and resolve transportation issues, shipment delays, and supply chain disruptions.
* support continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and six sigma methodologies.
* prepare logistics reports, transportation analysis, and performance metrics for management review.
