the role
the head of business development is responsible for scaling aviva’s distribution through strategic partnerships - turning retailers into financial access points.
this role owns the full lifecycle of embedded finance partnerships: from sourcing and structuring deals to launching pilots and scaling them into meaningful p&l contributors. Success is defined by building a nationwide - and eventually global - distribution network that converts partner footprint into credit origination and profitable growth.
this is not a strategy role. This is a hunter + dealmaker + builder role with full accountability for results. You are expected to design the deal, close it, and make it work in the field.
what you'll do
* design and execute the strategy to scale aviva across thousands of points of sale in mexico and, eventually, globally.
* identify high-potential partners across retail, services, and multi-industry ecosystems.
* craft compelling value propositions tailored to each partner.
* lead end-to-end dealmaking: sourcing, structuring, negotiation, and closing.
* sell partners a new business model and revenue stream.
* own the commercial execution of pilots, ensuring disciplined rollout and fast learning cycles.
* build a scalable embedded finance playbook: onboarding models, go-to-market strategies, and expansion frameworks.
* drive strategic expansion into new verticals: insurance, payments, cards, saas / aviva os licensing.
how we measure success
* close a small number of high-impact, deeply integrated partners.
* achieve presence in thousands of retail locations.
* generate meaningful loan volume with strong unit economics.
* build and implement a repeatable embedded finance playbook.

requirements
* 10+ years in business development, partnerships, and sales.
* proven track record of closing deals and building partnerships from 0 to scale.
* strong financial acumen: business cases, projections, p'l planning, unit economics.
* solid technical fluency - you won't code, but you can speak data and finance.
* builder mindset: you execute, not just talk.
* strong storytelling ability - you sell a vision.
* mba or master's in data / tech (preferred).
