Import & export coordinator
job summary:
the import & export coordinator is responsible for managing and executing all international logistics operations, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, and supporting the continuous flow of materials and finished goods in a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment.
key responsibilities:
* coordinate daily import and export operations (raw materials, components, and finished goods).
* ensure compliance with international trade regulations, including customs laws, tariffs, and trade agreements (e.g., usmca).
* prepare and review shipping documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, etc.).
* liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and transportation providers.
* monitor shipments to ensure on-time delivery and resolve delays or discrepancies.
* maintain accurate records in erp systems (sap, oracle, or similar).
* support inventory control and production planning by ensuring timely material flow.
* analyze logistics costs and propose cost-saving initiatives.
* ensure compliance with immex, annex 24 & 31 (for mexico operations).
* coordinate audits and maintain documentation for regulatory compliance.
* collaborate with internal departments (purchasing, production, warehouse, and finance).
qualifications:
* bachelor's degree in international trade, logistics, business administration, or related field.
* 5-6 years of experience in import/export operations within the automotive or manufacturing industry.
* strong knowledge of customs regulations and international logistics.
* experience with immex program and mexican customs compliance.
* advanced english (written and spoken).
* proficiency in erp systems and microsoft excel.
