*my role*:
- plan, define, carry-out strategic commodity sourcing activities both small and large.
- prepare procurement scope for each exercise, collect and prepare sow and related documents for each commodity bid released.
- as the main point of contact, maintain and develop the bidding process, including costing lanes for rfp’s, analyzing potential business, contributing to bid strategy, etc.
- find gaps in carrier lane coverage, partnering with strategic and core carriers to ensure service performance standards are met.
- understand vendor capabilities, identify opportunities for alternative sources and arrangements, and make recommendations to reduce cost and risk, and optimize working capital.
- serve as an escalation point for correcting systemic vendor performance issues as well as incidental urgent issues within the managed logistics spend categories.
- as a commodity and sme create metrics by which to measure your business partners (carriers) to ensure they are living up to expectations, sow, and defined performance requirements.
- initiate, grow and, maintain provider relationships including - strategy development, qualification development, carrier development.
- continuously work with carriers and partners to negotiate improved performance and cost reductions and mitigations.
- actively monitor and develop kpi’s to ensure business objectives are being met and measured to organizational goals.
- make recommendations and/or take corrective action to manage performance as appropriate and be an integral part of the disciplinary and termination process when necessary.
- utilize technology to fully understand market conditions and make necessary network adjustments.
- prepare and present monthly category updates which are to include pre identified kpis and “state of the commodity”.
*my background*:
- *2 - 5 years of experience in the logistics / supply chain industry.*:
- bachelor’s degree in finance, business, operations management or related logistics field. (required)
- *excellent bilingual spanish - english language skills, both verbal and written. (required)*:
- less than truckload, small pack services account management experience.
- freight payment / transportation management system experience (preferred)
- must have strong attention to detail and effective communications skills.
