World wildlife fund (wwf), one of the world's leading conservation organizations, seeks a financial administration specialist, country office unit (cou).
overviewthe financial administration specialist ensures accurate financial management and compliance for the country office unit (cou) and supports country offices in budgeting, reporting, and financial administration processes.this role oversees financial administration of incoming and outgoing agreements for the country office unit, financial systems integration, donor reporting, audits, and capacity-building initiatives, acting as a key liaison between country offices, headquarters teams, and external stakeholders.locationcandidates must be based in a wwf-us managed country office.eligible locations include bolivia, chile, ecuador, guatemala/belize/honduras, mexico, paraguay, peru, suriname, and guyana.salary rangepay will be in local currency only.responsibilitiesbudgeting & financial planningunder the direction of the finance and technology transformation manager, prepare, administer, and maintain the cou department budget in adaptive, ensuring accuracy and compliance.monitor spending and coding accuracy, coordinate quarterly updates and projections, and recommend corrective actions.coordinate the consolidation of country office financial figures for quarterly reviews and monitor co budget execution.financial administration & reportingreview and approve incoming awards records, amendments, and financial codes in smartsimple and workday.review and approve all new grant ids created in relation to co portfolios, including ipas.manage incoming agreement records tasks for cou, including preparation or review of donor financial reports & coordinating project audits following donor compliance.act as financial lead for cou outgoing agreements, including review of grantee financial reports and monitoring plans.create vendor invoices and process payments to donors or wwf network offices.support country offices on financial administration for donor contracts, including revenue recognition, accounts receivable, payments, exchange rate adjustments, and contract closures.review country office funding proposals for us-based donors.participate in regional financial closing processes and resolve outstanding issues.ensure monthly financial maintenance including accurate allocation of expenses, reclassification of overdrafts, and management fee corrections.system administration & data integrityvalidate financial system integrations and support reclassifications and journal entries in workday.update i-link database with financial dataset weekly in ms fabric and work with it designated team on any integration issues to ensure data is accurate.capacity building & technical supportdevelop training materials and support ongoing learning for i-link financial dashboards and other financial management tools.provide technical assistance and capacity-building to country offices on financial reporting and sound financial management.coordinate with the reporting lead in program operations to ensure adequate support for financial reporting needs.coordinate with the international accounting team on any improvement or need identified to support the accounting function in country offices, in close coordination with the finance and technology transformation manager.other responsibilitiesmanage with hq (crm team and revenue team) donations and gifts related to cou's portfolios.review and approve expense reports and invoices for the country office unit.facilitate information sharing across departments.perform other duties as assigned.behavioral competenciesanalytical thinking: understand the cause of problems or cases, considering impacts across all areas to avoid siloed work.organization & attention to detail: manage complex budgets, varying requests, and reporting to multiple stakeholders using workday, smartsimple, adaptive, ilink reports, ensuring accurate, timely data for decision-making.interpersonal communication & collaboration: communicate clearly and collaborate effectively within country offices, hq teams, donors, and partners to coordinate financial processes, resolve issues, support compliance, and build trust-based working relationships.proactive, adaptive, problem solving & judgment: respond promptly to stakeholders following policies, seek advice, learn from experience, and solve problems without delay.intellectual curiosity: learn new tools, processes, and colleagues' work to continuously improve performance.qualificationsa bachelor's degree in accounting, business, financial administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience.a minimum of 6 years of experience in similar roles and 4 years of substantial and successful project management experience overseeing financial and administrative activities.experience in financial reporting and analysis, corporate finance, or financial consulting.strong understanding of financial statements and accounting principles (gaap/ifrs) – preferred.ability to operate with considerable independence and discretion and also work effectively as a member of a team.ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.experience with financial systems (e.g., sap, oracle, workday, netsuite) and bi tools (e.g., power bi, tableau) – highly preferred.advanced excel and financial modeling skills.fully bilingual english-spanish.position will require travel to country offices and the us – up to 20%.
