the production supervisor – paint is responsible for testing and making necessary adjustments to maintain the integrity of the paint, pre‑treat and wastewater systems, and directing paint line personnel on an assigned shift.
Role & responsibility
paint line troubleshooting / maintenance
clear all conveyors, lowerers and paint‑related problems through systematic troubleshooting and problem solving to minimize impact on other departments.
Keep pre‑treatment, ecoat and powder coating systems running within optimal efficiencies.
Maintain wastewater discharge to comply with state and local regulations.
Prepare and maintain reports and records required for epa reporting.
Department administration
arrange maintenance of machines, equipment and facilities in the paint department.
Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials coming into the department.
Keep department costs within budgetary limits (e.g., scrap, overtime, rework and consumables).
Perform daily and weekly safety audits and monthly safety meetings to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
Report all shift main events related to safety, quality, delivery (meet production schedule every hour), cost and people.
Manage daily associates’ attendance and job assignments.
Use problem solving techniques to improve kpis and performance.
Schedule the assigned manpower and equipment to meet production needs.
Coordinate efforts with all department supervisors to achieve company objectives.
Continuous improvement
collaborate with the team to implement dbps per company targets.
Provide quality cost improvement ideas and data to reduce cost and improve quality.
Perform quality tests on paint to optimize performance and quality.
Personnel management
assure all team members/associates comply with 5s standards, ppe and safety standards from beginning to end of shift.
Approve overtime on an as‑needed basis.
Direct and train manpower to meet production schedules, while attaining efficient hour‑by‑hour records with actions taken to assure compliance to targets and maintaining and improving overall quality of the product.
Administer discipline of employees within paint department in accordance with progressive discipline procedures, company policies and regulations.
Perform other such related or similar duties as may be assigned.
Administer and interpret company policies and enforce rules and regulations. Involvement in grievance procedure.
Job requirement
education: engineering degree (industrial, chemical, etc.).
Experience supervising a team/group of people.
2 to 5 years of experience.
Must be willing to work overtime as required and capable of performing mechanical tasks up to and including pump repairs, plumbing and other mechanical system maintenance.
Microsoft office computer skills: excel, word, powerpoint, etc.
Ability to follow written instructions.
English spoken fluent: must be able to sustain an english conversation.
