about the role
we are looking for a senior tax consultant to join our team in mexico, supporting chinese-funded construction and engineering companies in managing their local tax compliance and strategy. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile infrastructure projects, navigate complex cross-border tax matters, and play a key part in optimizing tax performance across our portfolio.
key responsibilities
* oversee full-cycle tax management for construction projects, ensuring compliance with mexican tax regulations and mitigating risks.
* handle monthly and annual tax filings for isr (income tax), iva (vat), ieps, stamp duty, and other applicable taxes.
* manage tax audits, inspections, and disputes with sat (tax administration service) and other authorities.
* provide strategic tax planning to optimize costs using sino-mexican tax treaties and local incentives.
* prepare tax reports and analysis for internal stakeholders and the china headquarters.
* collaborate with finance and audit teams to support internal and external audits.
* stay updated on tax law changes and proactively adjust strategies to ensure compliance.
* support cross-border tax matters including transfer pricing, related-party transactions, and cross-border payments.
qualifications
* bachelor's degree in public accounting, taxation, or finance.
* 8+ years of tax experience, with at least 3 years in the construction or engineering sector.
* strong knowledge of mexican tax laws (isr, iva, ieps) and experience working with sat.
* proven experience with chinese-funded or multinational companies is a strong plus.
* fluent in english and spanish (written and spoken).
* independent, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing complex tax matters.
