About the role
we are looking for an experienced site hse coordinator to join our qse team within the engineering & construction division. This role will be critical in ensuring the effective implementation and continuous improvement of health, safety, and environmental (hse) practices during the construction phase of a major industrial project.
the successful candidate will play a key role in promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards, and supporting operational excellence on-site.
key responsibilities
* lead the development and implementation of the project hse management system in line with company procedures, client requirements, and local regulations
* define, implement, and maintain the site hse plan, ensuring proper documentation control and communication
* prepare and manage hse documentation, including:
o risk assessments
o job safety analyses (jsa)
o environmental impact evaluations
o emergency response procedures
* supervise and coordinate the site hse team, ensuring alignment with project objectives
* oversee and ensure compliance of subcontractors’ hse activities
* conduct regular hse inspections and audits across all project stakeholders (suppliers, vendors, subcontractors)
* support and advise the project qse manager on regulatory and compliance matters
* lead or support incident investigations, reporting, and corrective actions
* act as an active member of the emergency response team
* manage non-conformities, ensuring proper follow-up and communication to key stakeholders
* participate in hse meetings and produce performance reports using leading and lagging indicators
* deliver hse training and mentoring to project teams and staff
* maintain organized and auditable hse documentation records for internal and external stakeholders

* minimum 10 years of experience in industrial environments
* strong preference for experience in:
o power
o oil & gas
o refining
o petrochemical sectors
education & certifications
* bachelor’s degree (engineering preferred)
* nebosh international general certificate (igc)
* iso 45001:2018 and iso 14001:2015 training
* auditor training (iso 19011)
* first aid / cpr certification
