*description*
this position is responsible for the efficient movement of trains within the assigned territory, providing support to cover holidays of supervisors and taking care of incidents in its territory. This position also ensures compliance with internal transport regulations and current rules.
*accountabilities*
- supervises the fulfillment of the transportation master plan.
- supervises compliance with the standards of the direction of the transportation area, regarding the following rules: dwell (permanence of units), rtrd (correct car in correct train), customer compliance, compliance with work orders for trains and yard services, oto (origin trains), ott (arrival trains), review line delays for each train and connections, knowledge in sodales.
- supervises the personnel under their charge, verifying compliance with their functions, updating events in the appropriate systems, etc.
- oversees train formation, batching, and segregation when handling hazardous materials.
- verifies the operating and safety conditions of the pathways of yards and industries.
- takes actions to reduce personal and train accidents, making safety tours in the field, as well as supervising that the train supervisors also do it.
- applies operational testing (ots) to train personnel, taking the necessary actions when detecting any deviation in the fulfillment of their functions and adherence to current regulations (rit, rules of air brakes and train handling, star, etc.), ots tests done in the field and attached to reality.
- understands the relevant business metrics and applies effective tactics to sustain a culture of operational effectiveness that produces teams of high performing, engaged and empowered operational leaders.
*required*
- minimum two (2) years of relevant professional experience, preferably in an administrative, or human resources position, or equivalent combination of education and experience
*preferred*
- bilingual - english/spanish.
- 5 years of work experience as a train supervisor, foreman and / or train driver.
- railroad knowledge or experience.
- personnel management.
- previous kansas city southern experience.
*working conditions*
- shift work is an essential function of this job. Employees must have the ability and willingness to support critically important railroad operations 24 hours per day/7 days per week, working various shifts as assigned. Schedule assignments may include after-hours, weekends and holidays.
- business travel is an essential requirement of this job. Employees must be able and willing to travel away from their primary work location up to 50% of the time.
