Overview
As a WordPress Developer, you will design, develop, and maintain high-performance, secure WordPress websites and plugins. You will work on both front-end and back-end development, implement best practices in code quality and site performance, and collaborate with designers and clients to deliver reliable, user-friendly sites.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain WordPress websites and plugins using best practices.
- Build custom WordPress themes and plugins to meet client requirements.
- Collaborate with designers, project managers, and clients to translate requirements into functional features.
- Develop responsive, accessible, and cross-browser compatible front-end interfaces.
- Manage back-end functionality, database interactions, and integrations with external APIs.
- Write clean, well-documented code and perform debugging and code reviews.
- Optimize site performance, security, and SEO basics; apply regular updates and maintenance.
- Provide ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and support for WordPress sites.
- Stay current with WordPress ecosystem, PHP, JavaScript, and web development best practices.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with WordPress development (themes, plugins, and site builds).
- Strong proficiency in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Experience with WordPress APIs, custom post types, actions/filters, and REST APIs.
- Familiarity with front-end frameworks and development tools; experience with version control (Git).
- Understanding of responsive design, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility.
- Strong problem-solving skills, good communication, and ability to work independently and remotely.
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
