the account manager is critical in booking new business by developing financial business plans and instrumental in the launch phase of new programs. Key responsibilities include continued growth of program margin and management of working capital through timely cash collection of all a/r including tooling and engineering recoveries. This position will also support the forecast process by working with cross-functional groups to accurately capture sales revenue, sales opportunities, engineering costs, launch costs, capital requirements, tooling, and resource requirements.
responsibilities
* provide finance acumen to the business plan development process
o optimized bill of material, manufacturing process cost, capital investment, tooling cost/recovery, engineering cost/recovery, and plant startup expenses
* develop quote packages to submit to customers utilizing customer quote forms and processes
* engage in program cross functional team to refine the business case throughout the launch of the program while keeping tight control on project spending
* report monthly on the launch profitability and key finance metrics (investment spend/recovery)
* manage launch finance milestones using finance sign off and gate review checkpoints
* support the development of capital authorization requests for program capital
* track all tool spend and recovery of tooling funds from customer
* negotiate pricing with customer on changes during the launch process all through service
* manage contract accuracy and pricing in plex using a customer bump chart
* assist with management of account receivables - working with internal teams and the customer to invoice and resolve outstanding payment issues
* defend product costs and tooling investments to customer's financial analysts and purchasing team
* gain understanding of a variety of manufacturing processes, their related costs and help develop competitive pricing strategies for them
* support strategic and integration teams with financial analysis as required
* champion customer portals as applicable
* relentlessly pursue opportunities for partnerships with customers, suppliers, community and the motus team
* effectively communicate impact of changes to plant and program management
* provide key inputs to the annual operating plan (aop) and forecast processes working with corporate finance team along with plant and launch teams
requirements
* bachelor’s degree in business, finance, engineering or related
* 5+ years applicable experience, automotive experience
* 3+ years of experience in financial or project management in a manufacturing environment
* understanding of operating systems (plex or similar) and processes (order to cash, billing and accounts receivable) are a plus
* outstanding customer communication skills (written and verbal) are essential for success in this position
* ability to travel
* experience working with oe’s preferred
