Reporting directly to the ehs manager, the ehs engineer will design, implement, and improve environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with legal requirements and company standards at the matehuala facility. The role focuses on risk assessment, prevention strategies, continuous improvement of ehs systems, and compliance with iso standards and regulatory frameworks. The engineer will act to stop unsafe operations and support a proactive safety culture across the organization.

* identify and assess health, safety, and environmental risks within the facility.
* develop and implement mitigation actions and ensure effectiveness of controls.
* support and participate in ehs audits and compliance activities.
* develop, implement, and update ehs procedures and work instructions.
* ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements (stps, semarnat, etc.).
* maintain and support iso 14001:2015 and iso 45001:2018 systems.
* deliver ehs training programs and awareness initiatives.
* investigate incidents and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
* monitor and evaluate safety performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
* stop unsafe operations, equipment, or activities when risks are identified.
* maintain preventive evaluations of equipment and facilities.
* identify unsafe practices and implement corrective/preventive actions.
* support development and enforcement of ehs policies and internal regulations.

about you
* bachelor’s degree in industrial, environmental, chemical engineering, or related field.
* 3+ years of experience in ehs or similar roles.
* strong knowledge of ehs legal and regulatory frameworks.
* certifications in environmental, health, and safety regulations preferred.
* experience delivering training and safety programs.
* strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* excellent communication skills across all organizational levels.
* strong commitment to safety, compliance, and ethical standards.
