Childfund is a child-focused international development organization that works in 23 countries to connect children with the people, resources and institutions they need to grow up healthy, educated, skilled and safe, no matter where they are.

childfund has implemented the camino protegido humanitarian project since 2020 to provide support and protection to migrant children, adolescents, and families in mexico. It currently focuses on reducing the gap in health services and protecting the population in transit, asylum seekers, refugees, and vulnerable members of host communities, primarily in chiapas and other locations in southeastern mexico.

about this role

the field project manager will oversee day-to-day implementation of the project at the field level. Reporting to the sr. Advisor, this role will ensure high-quality, timely delivery of project activities and effective coordination with partners, staff, and stakeholders.

required experience and education

qualifications/experience

* a minimum of five years of experience as a manager directly implementing large complex projects, preferably in the field of human mobility
* experience in grants administration/management of projects funded by foreign government aid agencies, and/or multilateral institutions
* demonstrated ability to build and maintain working relationships with staff at multiple levels
* working knowledge of budgeting and project management, monitoring and evaluation processes
* proven ability to prioritize tasks and to initiate follow-through with meticulous attention to detail and high level of accuracy
* excellent written and verbal communication skills, fluency in english and spanish
* familiarity with the regional context of irregular migration, including extensive knowledge of child protection and violence prevention

education/certifications

* bachelor’s degree required, preferably in social science or related field; master’s degree preferred
* significant experience in successful proposal development
* relevant work experience in migration issues and child protection in humanitarian context in mexico
* relevant experience leading multidisciplinary teams
* effective communicator and collaborator able to work with varied audiences
* demonstrated ability to work independently and output oriented
* proficient spanish and english language skills are required for this position

primary responsibilities

* field implementation and coordination
* manage day-to-day implementation of the project, ensuring program activities are executed effectively
* coordinate with partners and staff to ensure timely and high-quality delivery of services
* support multidisciplinary teams in the field, ensuring alignment with project work plans and donor commitments
* program quality and compliance
* ensure program activities adhere to global protection standards, including the inter-agency minimum standards for gbv in emergencies and child protection in humanitarian action
* implement accountability for affected population (aap) tools and safeguard policies at the field level
* monitoring and reporting
* implement field-based monitoring and evaluation systems, ensuring regular data collection and analysis
* contribute to the development of internal and external project reports, ensuring accurate and timely submissions to the sr. Advisor
* capacity building and support
* deliver training to field teams and partners on program interventions, including case management and mhpss
* ensure continuous capacity building of local staff and partners to enhance service delivery
* partnership management and stakeholder engagement
* actively manage relationships with field-level partners and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and collaboration at field level, including shelters, protection working groups, and others
* participate in the identification of potential partners and contribute to the stakeholder analysis process
* budget management and planning
* support the sr. Advisor in budget planning and monitoring field-level expenditures
* ensure the field team follows financial procedures and maintains budget accountability
* representation and advocacy
* represent childfund in local protection coordination and task force meetings, advocating for the program’s objectives and priorities
* act as the point of contact for field-level inquiries and coordination efforts
* risk mitigation and problem solving
* identify risks and obstacles to program delivery and develop solutions in collaboration with the sr. Advisor
* ensure inclusive access to services across all intervention areas, focusing on marginalized and hard-to-reach populations
