About the role
we are seeking a process engineer to join the process technology team in tlalnepantla, mexico. This role supports manufacturing operations through the optimization and improvement of downstream processes within a biotechnological manufacturing environment.
the position collaborates with production, quality, engineering, and maintenance teams to ensure efficient, stable, and high-quality process performance.
main activities
* monitor and support downstream process activities from fermentation harvest to final product.
* optimize unit operations related to:
* filtration (microfiltration, ultrafiltration, sterile filtration)
* biomass separation (centrifugation, decantation)
* drying technologies (spray drying, lyophilization, granulation)
* troubleshoot process deviations and support corrective actions.
* support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance yield, recovery, and product quality.
* participate in pilot plant trials and process scale-up activities.
* collaborate with upstream, analytical, quality, and manufacturing teams.
* prepare technical summaries, data analysis, and project updates.
* use manufacturing or erp systems such as sap (desirable).
qualifications & experience
* bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, bioprocess engineering, biotechnology, biochemistry, or related field.
* 5+ years of experience in: fermentation processes or manufacturing environments with a biotechnological base.
* experience in biotechnology, food, or pharmaceutical process development, or process engineering.
* hands-on exposure to downstream processing operations.
* experience supporting pilot-scale or industrial-scale processes.
* strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* experience working in gmp environments is a plus.
* advanced english proficiency.
* availability to support operations outside standard business hours when required.
