Engineering manager
*objective*:
this position is responsible for plant 7 process adaptation for diesel pins & automotive pins. Including ppap’s and prints approvals and process layout modification, including standardized work. Support operations while working toward constant continuous improvement.
*responsibilities*:
- responsible for process mapping and part process flow.
- assist as needed with all diesel & automotive customer approvals and follow-up.
- responsible for developing and improving utilization of equipment and analyzing their capacities.
- troubleshoot manufacturing processes, including but not limited to machining, grinding, and heat treat.
- responsible for facility/plant layout of processes for diesel and automotive products.
- responsible, write proposals and implement capital projects.
- evaluate production processes through statistical process control data (cpk).
- knowledge of creating, troubleshooting cnc programs for multi-axis cnc lathes.
- ability to design tools and fixtures using cad software.
- work with plant vision systems or development of new systems.
- perform other related duties and projects as assigned around the globe.
- responsible for storing and updating prints as needed.
- responsible for tool room and all duties involved in this area.
- control and monitor min & max tooling levels.
- accuracy of tooling layout and ensuring correct tooling is being used.
- responsible for pfmea.
- support continuous improvement activities that focus on automation, labor, process improvement, set up time reduction waste elimination, scrap reduction, tooling cost reduction, and sharing of best practices.
- manage the operational performance of the engineering team and ensure their effectiveness and efficiency.
- provide technical expertise and manufacturing support for problem solving and cost reductions.
- work closely with outside materials and services suppliers to ensure compliance with amsted standards for quality and cost.
- make other daily contributions for the benefit of the organization as may be necessary.
*mandatory*
- bachelors of science in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering or manufacturing technology.
- 7 to 10 years’ experience in heavy manufacturing environment (metals machining, fabrication, heat treat, or center less grinding, etc).
- must be analytical and have proven skills using a disciplined problem-solving approach.
- experience with lean/six sigma manufacturing techniques and qs/ts certifications.
- experience with run offs of new equipment and evaluation.
- thorough understanding of apqp, ppap, pfmea’s and new product launches.
- effective communication skills (oral and written) at all levels of an organization with preference for multi-lingual skills.
- strong negotiation skills including the ability to act effectively in pressure-sensitive & time sensitive situations.
