*job description summary*:
the aeo control systems team is looking for a passionate engineer looking to grow in the intersection between the aviation and the power/oil & gas industries.
this position is required to execute with minor guidance tasks and activities to support and develop the new generation of control software of aeroderivative engines powering the world.
*roles and responsibilities*
execute, with some guidance from senior engineering team members, the analysis, design, test, and integration activities required to deliver engine controls solutions for ge aviation products.
activities include:
- evaluate the functional requirements to achieve the operational requirements of aeroderivative engines
- define key characteristics of the electronics, fuel, hydraulic systems, sensors, actuators and control logic design required to achieve the control system functional requirements for power management, i/o signal processing, fault detection, accommodation, power response and operations across the whole engine mission.
- use design tools such as beacon, npss and matlab / simulink to construct controls system solutions
- verify system operation in desktop simulations, hardware-in-the-loop tests and engine test support,
- provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
- participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
- be accountable for the quality of own work.
subject to direct operations supervision/prescribed work instructions/systems checking.
execute within a well-defined operations framework
- participate in process standardization and ge lean simplification efforts
*required qualifications*
- bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics or computer science from an accredited college or university.
- solid contribution in a similar role or previous position
- familiarity with the processes for requirements, logic design, and simulation/test of real time embedded software
*desired characteristics*:
- strong problem-solving skills
- software development experience using c, c++ or similar languages.
- knowledge of real time control systems development tools (e.g. Doors, beacon, scade, simulink, npss, change & synergy)
- familiarity with controls software design, test and analysis tools and systems
- passion for continuous improvement and early adopter of change, adjusting to find faster, simpler approaches that are impactful
- desire to work in a diverse and collaborative team environment
- strong written and oral communication skills in english
