Position summary

the sr. Support engineer, sap abap will provide exceptional remote‑based support for mission‑critical sap applications as part of our global customer support team. The role reports directly to the regional manager, sap delivery, and qualified candidates can work remotely in mexico while observing us pacific time zone hours.

responsibilities include researching, troubleshooting, and supporting multiple client architectures and implementations, diagnosing serious issues, and developing, testing, packaging, and delivering fixes in complex, integrated environments.


essential duties & responsibilities

* solve complex customer issues using methodical troubleshooting based on expert knowledge of sap abap.
* work closely with customers daily to understand their needs, support business change, and deliver consistently high‑quality customer experience.
* provide remote‑based abap support.
* support client customizations, sharing implementation and best‑practice advice.
* develop application break fixes for critical product defects.
* create scripts to identify, analyze, and correct data issues.
* manage one or more key assigned accounts as a technical/functional advisor.
* provide hands‑on assistance using proprietary tools in a test environment or via remote client connectivity.
* be a proactive contributor to a support organization that runs 24/7/365, requiring flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
* collaborate with team members in a virtual environment to extend field experience to different client situations.
* contribute to the development and management of knowledge‑sharing methodologies, diagnostic tools, and creative processes to improve client experience.
* other job‑related duties and responsibilities may be assigned from time to time.


education & certifications

* bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
* oci or sap certification(s) preferred.


experience

* 12+ years relevant abap experience.
* skills in functional abap‑based troubleshooting.
* client‑facing support experience.
* a track record of successful roles in several sap implementation or upgrade projects.
* analytical and logical problem‑resolution skills.
* knowledge of localizations: architecture, implementation, and key functionality.
* expertise with s/4 hana, including full lifecycle implementation experience.
* knowledge of maintenance/patching mechanics and sap architecture.
* demonstrable history of solving complex problems across multiple modules.
* 5+ years of direct support of application end‑users in a corporate environment.
* mentoring and training knowledge and experience.
* deep working knowledge and understanding of supporting business processes.
* experience with sap r/3, ecc, including full lifecycle implementation experience, configuration, and administration.


skills

* must be able to speak, read, and write english.
* speaking, reading, and writing another language fluently is desirable.
* excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills – verbal & written.
* superb troubleshooting skills and tenacity in problem solving.
* passionate focus on customer support and the ability to build long‑term, successful working relationships with clients and colleagues.
* strong knowledge of key application functionality, tables, and relationships.
* deep knowledge of sap customization/extension methodologies.
* attention to detail and the ability to learn quickly.
* extreme focus on client satisfaction.
* demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* ability to work calmly and professionally in high‑pressure situations.
* ability to work remotely from a home‑based office in a virtual environment.
* experience with abap debug troubleshooting.
* excellent development skills using sap toolset.
* ability to work with the regional manager and assist in bringing clients out of escalation.


desired qualifications

* extensive knowledge of multiple sap modules across releases (s/4 hana) and proficiency with sap product module/suite business processes, navigation mechanics, configuration requirements, integration with other modules, and knowledge of underlying technology.
* knowledge of sap industry solutions would be an advantage.
* knowledge of any country specific solutions would be an advantage.
* consulting background, while not mandatory, would be useful.
* experience with localizations and global implementations would be an advantage.
* delivered training sessions.


location

* remote – mexico; usa pacific time zone hours.
