Job title: senior quality assurance engineer
job description:
as a key member of the quality team, this role is responsible for driving improvements to quality standards across all areas of responsibility. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of quality management systems and be able to lead projects that resolve systemic issues and improve quality capabilities.
key responsibilities:
- oversee quality assurance and quality control processes in production areas, including monitoring and prioritizing quality-related information from internal and external sources.
- drive initiatives to enhance a quality culture and define audits and assessments to ensure outgoing products meet specifications.
- supervise engineers and interns in completion of assigned tasks and projects, and develop data analysis systems to prioritize and determine root cause.
non-conforming materials:
- monitor quality of supplied and internally manufactured components and products for conformance to specifications.
- ensure appropriate metrology equipment, methods, and processes are followed to remove non-conforming materials from production, and drive corrective action when necessary.
- follow-up on field communications and lead containment activities as required.
corrective actions and improvements:
- lead projects to permanently resolve systemic issues and improve quality capabilities.
- continuously monitor and address emerging issues, prioritizing the most critical items and ensuring timely resolution.
control plan execution:
- review and update standard work, processes, tools, measurements, checks, and training to ensure complete and consistent work is performed.
- ensure calibrated equipment is available and maintained, and train personnel on control plan elements and sustainment.
quality capability development:
- identify opportunities to improve process monitoring and controls capabilities, and implement measurement systems analyses and procure equipment as needed.
- complete justifications to secure resources for project success and train less experienced personnel in quality techniques and procedures.
requirements:
- bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering or related field (equivalent acceptable).
- lean six sigma black belt certification desired.
- in-depth knowledge of quality management systems, core tools, pfmea, control plan, and quality assurance and preventive processes.
- familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, and demonstrated experience with similar product and/or manufacturing processes.
- strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
preferred qualifications:
- 5-7 years' experience in quality final product assembly.
work environment:
- less than 10% travel required.
