About The Role

The Content Strategist is a crucial, client‑facing role that is responsible for day‑to‑day client deliverables, creating and managing custom client strategies, and communicating both with clients and internal stakeholders. The Strategist is responsible for more Enterprise clients and is expected to have a deep understanding of their service line and how it impacts other areas of business to create a holistic marketing strategy.

Please note: internally, this role is titled Account Strategist, Content & SEO.

What You’ll Do

- Strategic Excellence and Best Practices: Create custom strategies and implement best practices for clients to reach our NSMs. Use project phases as a foundational moment for building initial client strategy, then optimize and revise strategies over the lifetime of the client while adhering to Directive best practices.
- Work closely with the Associate Director (AsD) when roadblocks arise that impact strategy and goal attainment.
- Craft creative briefs and compelling content campaigns focused on ideation based on competitor and audience insights.
- Use best practices such as LTV:CAC modeling, Customer Generation, Share of SERP, and Content Production to ensure clients exceed their goals.

- Goal Setting: Use available data to set goals for clients during their engagement period. Goals are reviewed and approved by the Associate Director.

- Data sources include Google Analytics, CRM data, SEMRush reporting, and Ahrefs reporting.
- All goals must be approved by the Associate Director before presentation to the client.

- Project Management: Ensure strategies are executed and clients know who is responsible for specific tasks.

- Use Asana for task delegation and tracking.
- Delegate tasks to Specialists, content writers, designers, and clients, ensuring timely completion.
- Partner with Project Managers to create, assign, and meet due dates and communicate to the client.

- Internal and External Communication: Serve as the main interface between clients and our team.

- Communicate timeline expectations, goal progress, and deliverables regularly via Slack and bi‑weekly meetings.
- Communicate roadblocks, account growth opportunities, and strategy changes to internal leadership.

- Reporting: Report progress and impact to clients at regular cadence.

- Bi‑weekly client meetings with NSM progress and deliverable status.
- Monthly and quarterly reports.
- Bi‑annual business review presentations.

What You’ll Bring
- Proven track record of SEO principles and content strategy implementation (keyword research, on‑page optimization, link building).
- Analytical insight: ability to analyze website traffic and SEO metrics using tools like Google Analytics.
- Strong communication skills; comfortable client‑facing and owning relationships with key stakeholders.
- Familiarity with industry tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMRush, Ahrefs, and Screaming Frog.
- Proven organizational, project, and time‑management skills.
- Enthusiasm for digital marketing, SEO, and content.
- Agency experience required.
- B2B tech and/or SaaS experience required.

- CSAT > 4.2
- Upsells / Cross‑sells / Referrals:
- Regularly seek opportunities for clients to grow with Directive (e.g., additional service lines, increased budgets).
- Ask for referrals at key moments, such as when a point of contact starts a new job.

- Client satisfaction: maintain a 5 CSAT score; address any client concerns promptly.

Work Environment Requirements

As a remote‑first company, you’ll have the ability to work from anywhere in the US, with the option to enjoy our state‑of‑the‑art offices in Irvine, California. For positions posted, we will accommodate integral opportunities in Canada, the UK, and Australia. For these locations, you must have established work authorization and permanently reside in that country.

This role operates 100% virtually from your home office. We collaborate primarily through virtual meetings (Zoom) and Slack. You will be required to operate a laptop computer (PC or Mac) and related office productivity tools. Due to the nature of this role, you must be able to remain stationary for extended periods, interpret written and/or verbal communication, and have reliable internet access.
