About the opportunity
being part of the global agronomy tech transfer team, this position will work under the responsibility of the agronomy tech transfer lead, to support knowledge transfer activities across the different bu, by translating the bu needs and opportunities to relevant knowledge/technology solutions and adoption. The position will be required to work closely with the agronomy tech transfer team to create, maintain, and champion an open, collaborative environment that fosters knowledge and technology sharing with all stakeholders. It will also involve maintaining interconnectivity between team members and ensuring continuity of knowledge sharing and deployment between nursery and fruit production. A robust knowledge of proprietary genetics and their commercial potential across regions, climates, and systems is essential for development in this role.
responsibilities
1. foster and build strong working relationships with global nursery teams based on trust.
2. foster and build strong working relationships with fruit agronomy tech transfer and applied research teams.
3. act as a conduit to connect relevant parties to key initiatives and opportunities for collaboration.
4. work with ops / ar teams to gather and use regional bmp and cultivation guides to benchmark and standardize best practices globally.
5. identify knowledge gaps and train local colleagues to improve production processes and consistency across bus.
6. enable deployment of innovations and sustainable methods that foster automation, mechanization, and efficiency.
7. collaborate with r&d, applied research, and regional teams to ensure technology deployment.
8. work with gatt lead to identify knowledge packages that enhance genetic cultivar value and understand driscoll’s breeding programs and systems.
9. plan and maintain a schedule of ms teams meetings with stakeholders.
10. identify and arrange for external industry expert services as needed.
11. plan global travel to visit driscoll’s operations and write comprehensive reports post-visits.
12. facilitate nursery visits and ensure compliance with company policies and confidentiality.
candidate profile
1. bachelor’s degree in horticulture, agronomy, or related field, or equivalent experience.
2. at least 5 years’ experience in the soft fruit industry, with strong knowledge of fruit production, nursery activities, and related areas.
3. ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
4. excellent communication skills, capable of simplifying complex issues.
5. sound judgment and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment.
6. willingness to travel extensively (up to 50% internationally).
7. current driver’s license, valid passport, and ability to travel often.
