position overview
we are seeking an experienced video editor who specializes in short‐form, social‐first content. The editor will be responsible for transforming raw clips, b‐roll, voiceover, and cultural references into fast‐paced, comedic videos that match the creator's established style. This role requires someone who understands u.s. culture, meme language, political humor, and the dynamics of viral content. Attention to detail, excellent timing, and the ability to receive and apply direct feedback are essential.
key responsibilities
* edit short‐form videos for instagram reels, youtube shorts, tiktok, and related platforms.
* order, organize, and time b‐roll to match voiceover pacing and music.
* add captions, memes, overlays, zooms, sfx, and creative elements to increase retention and virality.
* source relevant clips, photos, and cultural references to support the topic of each video.
* upload edits, revisions, and final files using frame.io and follow feedback efficiently.
* maintain an organized file structure via google drive.
* occasionally assist with long‐form podcast/video editing.
* proactively make creative suggestions to enhance comedic moments and audience engagement.
qualifications (must-have)
* demonstrated professional experience editing short‐form videos (this should not be your first editing role).
* strong understanding of u.s. culture, politics, memes, humor, and social trends.
* proficiency with capcut.
* expertised with any captions app.
* strong attention to spelling, caption accuracy, and visual precision.
* ability to take highly detailed feedback without resistance and revise quickly.
* ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
preferred qualifications
* experience editing political, social commentary, comedy, or influencer‐style content.
* experience editing for high‐visibility personal brands or podcasts.
* ability to create small motion graphics or simple animations.
* full‐time role (40 hours/week).
