job description
the educator-clinical conveys basic through advanced knowledge in field of expertise and conducts well planned, organized and relevant competency-based unit/department orientation and education programs for new and existing staff based on individualized learning needs and unit/department-specific functions and patient population served.
applies principles of adult learning to education processes and modifies as needed to accommodate for generational differences. Works side-by-side with staff to effectively train and assess staff's progress towards established learning outcomes and level of performance. Provides real-time feedback to staff and demonstrates the ability to turn successes and failures into meaningful "training moments."
qualifications
education and experience: bachelor of science degree in nursing required. Master of science degree in nursing preferred. Three years clinical nursing experience in primary area of specialty required.
knowledge and skills: substantial knowledge of clinical practice specialty, nursing scope of practice, adult learning principles, medical staff structure, legal aspects of care and evidenced-based clinical practice standards required. Understands state and federal healthcare regulations and accreditation, quality, patient safety, performance improvement methodologies, data management and statistical analysis required.
licensures and certifications: active california registered nurse (rn) license required. Basic life support certification through the american heart association required. Other certifications and competencies as required in the unit/department-specific plan for providing care required. National certification in area of specialty preferred.
