position summary
this position is responsible for verifying and keeping records on outgoing shipments and preparing items for shipment. Compares identifying information and counts and other information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records. Attention to detail and follow through are of the utmost importance.

essential duties:
* accurately gather and assemble items for shipment from production floor traveler and other documents
* prepares item for shipment by boxing, building crates, banding to pallets, shrink wrapping or other methods; either standard packaging or as specified by the customer or the shipping coordinator
* accurately determines weights and dimensions of shipment and relays the information to the shipping coordinator
* inspects outgoing shipment to ensure they meet c & w standards
* once the paperwork is complete, the shipper will affix shipping label and or other documents
* safely load shipment on trucks of all types ensuring no damage is caused to the shipment or the outbound carrier
qualifications
education: high school diploma or equivalent required.
licenses and certifications: n/a
experience: 1-2 years of purchasing experience required; purchasing experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment preferred.

* the shipping clerk must have the ability to see details at close range within a few feet away
* the shipping clerk must have the ability to communicate information, clearly speaking so others will understand
* the shipping clerk must have the ability to listen to and understand information and direction communicated by others
* the shipping clerk must have the ability to follow direction and safety rules while completing their assigned task in a timely manner.
skills:
* must have forklift experience and be extremely safety minded
* must be familiar with crating and packaging tools and equipment
* this job requires a person to be on their feet and mobil up to (10) hours a day
* must work clean, safe and be well organized

work environment
