About the role
senior category manager will lead carrier’s centralized $200m+ shell & tube heat exchanger and technical copper tube category, playing a critical role within the csa supply chain organization. Reporting to the associate director for copper & aluminum sourcing, they will drive sourcing strategy and supplier management across carrier’s north america manufacturing footprint.
This position is responsible for delivering sustained competitive advantage through cost optimization, supplier performance, innovation, and supply chain resilience. The role requires close collaboration with engineering, product management, operations, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure alignment between sourcing strategy and business objectives.
Key responsibilities
managing a global category spend of approximately $200m, ensuring competitive sourcing strategies and supply continuity.
Developing and executing the category strategy for shell & tube heat exchangers and technical copper tubes, balancing cost, availability, supplier innovation, and operational flexibility.
Leading cross‑functional collaboration with engineering, operations, product management, quality, and supply chain teams to support new product development and operational goals.
Driving supplier performance management, including vendor scorecards, performance metrics, and reporting to leadership.
Leading strategic sourcing initiatives including contract negotiations, supplier qualification, resourcing initiatives, dual sourcing strategies, pricing management, and capacity planning.
Supporting the development of the commodity management organization, collaborating with regional teams and the center of excellence to drive global sourcing performance.
Requirements

As a minimum you must have
bachelor’s degree.
7+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, category management, or procurement within a global industrial manufacturing environment.
Proven experience managing supplier relationships, sourcing strategies, and commercial negotiations.
Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional and global environments, influencing stakeholders across multiple business units.
Availability to travel approximately 30%, including occasional international travel.
Mba or professional certifications such as cpm, cpsm, cirm, or cpim.
Strong negotiation capabilities and strategic sourcing expertise.
Experience with lean tools, sourcing methodologies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Strong analytical skills and digital proficiency to leverage data in decision‑making.
Demonstrated success in leading complex sourcing initiatives, managing supplier relationships, and communicating with executive stakeholders.
