purpose of position:
the senior accountant position is responsible for assisting with the timely and accurate monthly accounting close of fresh del monte corporate legal entities, including the shared service center legal entity located in guadalajara, mexico. Fresh del monte's results are prepared under u.s. Gaap accounting standards.

responsibilities:
* prepare and process journal entries for the closing of every month to meet reporting deadlines set by the company.
* prepare general ledger account reconciliations on a monthly basis and propose adjustments as needed.
* reconcile intercompany balances with other counterparties within fresh del monte and resolve variances as needed.
* areas of involvement may include, but are not limited to, accounting for cash, intercompany charges, prepaids, fixed assets, payroll and accruals.
* prepare financial statement analytics for relevant accounts on a quarterly basis.
* prepare quarterly data requests submitted for external financial reporting purposes.
* interface with external and internal auditors by providing requested information as needed.
* ensure execution of key internal controls relating to own areas of responsibility.
* support local tax compliance reporting for the shared services legal entity in guadalajara, mexico.
* special projects as needed.
minimum skills required:
* minimum 3 years prior accounting experience working in a fast-paced, results oriented environment.
* bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
* strong analytical skills.
* solid understanding of us gaap.
* experience using a large erp system (sap and/or oracle a plus).
* ability to work collaboratively with a sense of urgency and commitment.
* detail oriented approach to work.
* fully fluent in english (written and verbal).
* ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
