Overview
the sr, commodity manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for assigned commodities. Oversees supply chain development on multiple continents and sourcing for new products. Coordinates with other departments to achieve cost-reduction goals. Vendor selection is done for cost-competitiveness, improved quality, supply chain flexibility and reliability, alternate sourcing, reduced lead time, and successful launch of cost-competitive new products. Negotiates and executes vendor managed inventory (vmi) and stocking agreements.
responsibilities
* develop, implement, and maintain sourcing strategies for assigned commodities; sourcing strategies assuring the lowest cost materials, with consistency of supply and of the best possible quality.
* evaluate new suppliers and managing ongoing relationships with existing suppliers.
* measure, analyze, and improve supplier performance for assigned commodities.
* negotiate and execute vendor managed inventory (vmi) and stocking agreements.
* support sbus in the negotiation of private label agreements for buyouts.
* evaluate market conditions to identify potential supply chain issues and develop plans to mitigate risks.
* lead cost reduction initiatives through negotiation, value engineering, and process improvement.
* coordinate with other departments to achieve cost-reduction goals and support the successful launch of cost-competitive new products.
* provide leadership to drive continuous improvement of all sourcing and materials metrics.
* foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
* identify supply risk and develop risk mitigation/elimination plans for his/her assigned commodities.
qualifications
* bachelor’s degree in engineering or business-related field.
* 10 years of experience in sourcing multiple commodities.
* technical knowledge in the commodity of electronic components and other consumer electronics commodities.
* excellent problem-solving & analytical skills.
* capable of working in an independent, self-directed manner and be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
* excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
* bilingual english/spanish, both written and verbal.
* demonstrated leadership.
* well versed in project management techniques and capable of acting effectively as a project manager.
desired qualifications:
* graduate degree in business or technical discipline
* apics and/or cpsm certification.
* knowledge in sustainability and compliance frameworks.
