About the role
senior associate – sql database administrator (4–7 years) in cdmx. Own the reliability, performance, security, and availability of enterprise sql server environments. Lead high-impact changes, ha/dr, performance engineering, incident triage/rca, and modernization/automation initiatives.
responsibilities
administer complex sql server estates: always on ags, multi-node/multi-subnet clusters, replication, failover drills, and geo-dr.
engineer performance and capacity: tune queries/indexes, analyze plans/dmvs/waits, forecast growth, optimize uptime and slas.
secure and comply: enforce tde, ssl, rbac/least privilege, auditing, masking, and generate compliance reports.
build iac and automation: terraform/ansible, ci/cd for db provisioning, scripts (powershell, t‑sql, pl/sql, shell) for backups, patching, and user ops.
govern operations: manage backups/restore (pit), dr tests/runbooks, patches/upgrades, monitoring/dashboards, and lead cab changes and rcas.
requirements
* 4–7 years in advanced sql server administration across mission‑critical environments.
* hands‑on with always on ags, clustering, listener/read routing, backup/restore strategies, and dr orchestration.
* deep performance tuning (dmvs, execution plans, stats/index frameworks, query store, extended events, wait analysis).
* partnering with dev teams on schema/indexing/partitioning and stored procedure optimization.
* strong incident management, documentation, and kpi ownership (backup success, query performance, ag health, dr readiness).
nice to have
* knowledge of sql server, mysql, mariadb, postgresql, mongodb.
* powershell, terraform, ansible, solarwinds sql diagnostics.
* aws rds/aurora/nosql experience; paas/managed instance planning and migration tooling (e.g., dms).
certifications
microsoft/azure sql certifications (mcsa/mcse) are a plus.
education
bachelor's degree required (computer science/engineering or related preferred).
