about the role
you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance and accuracy in importation. You will be responsible for auditing customs entries, invoices and broker submissions to confirm compliance with regulations, policies and country-of-origin requirements. This requires exceptional attention to detail, knowledge of customs procedures and ability to work closely with internal teams to safeguard compliance.
key responsibilities
* audit entry packets received from brokers and freight forwarders.
* cross-reference entries with the automated commercial environment (ace) portal to verify alignment of declared values, duties and country of origin.
* validate duty percentages and tariff classifications are accurate and in compliance.
* spot-check commercial invoices against declared entry values to identify discrepancies.
* ensure all applicable fees, tariffs and charges are correct prior to approval of payment.
* elevate inconsistencies or compliance concerns to supervisor immediately.
qualifications
requirements
* bachelor's degree in business administration, international commerce or related field with 5+ years of experience in customs compliance, import/export operations or logistics/supply chain role.
* strong knowledge of us import regulations, tariff classifications and customs entry processes.
* proficiency in ace portal and handling entry packets.
* high attention to detail with excellent auditing skills.
* effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
preferred qualifications
* licensed customs broker or working towards licensure.
* experience working with major freight forwarders and customs brokers.
* familiarity with international trade compliance and free trade agreements.
