the fabrication quality manager is responsible for overseeing all quality assurance and control activities within the fabrication department, ensuring that products and processes meet established standards, specifications, and customer requirements. This role plays a critical part in maintaining compliance with quality systems, driving continuous improvement, and supporting operational excellence. The manager will lead a team of inspectors and collaborate closely with production, engineering, and other departments to resolve quality issues and implement effective solutions.
job responsibility
* oversee and manage quality assurance activities within the fabrication department, including the welding and painting sub-areas.
* ensure compliance with internal quality procedures, customer specifications, and industry standards across both sub-areas.
* develop, implement, and maintain quality control plans and inspection criteria specific to welding and painting processes.
* monitor welding, cutting, forming, and painting operations to guarantee product quality and process consistency.
* lead investigations into non-conformities and quality issues; drive corrective and preventive actions.
* collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to address and resolve quality concerns.
* supervise and develop quality inspectors and staff within the welding and painting teams.
* track and analyze quality performance metrics (kpis) and report findings to management.
* support internal, customer, and third-party audits, ensuring readiness and compliance.
* maintain calibration and proper functioning of inspection equipment used in both welding and painting operations.
* foster a culture of continuous improvement, quality accountability, and regulatory compliance throughout the fabrication department.
requirements:
* bachelor's degree in industrial, mechanical, manufacturing engineering or related field.
* minimum 5 years of experience in quality management within manufacturing environments, preferably involving welding and painting processes.
* strong knowledge of quality management systems (iso 9001), root cause analysis, and lean manufacturing principles, with experience leading quality teams and continuous improvement initiatives.
