Job description
main responsibilities
perform and maintain accurate tariff classification under:
mexican tigie (ligie / hts mexico)
u.s. Harmonized tariff schedule (htsus)
classify raw materials, components, finished goods, equipment, spare parts and mro for:
imports into mexico under immex (temporary and definitive)
exports from mexico to the united states
product codes from sat for carta porte.
Prepare and maintain classification justification files, including:
hs rules of interpretation
explanatory notes
product descriptions, boms, technical drawings, and specs
review and validate broker‑proposed classifications and resolve discrepancies
coordinate classification‑related impacts to:
virtual operations (v1)
transfers between immex entities
participate in or support:
sat audits (mexico)
internal and third‑party compliance assessments
maintain master data on annex 24 system
add, maintain and control part numbers
manage import requirements through master data
validate commercial description, hs codes, units of measure and its conversion factors, values, etc.
Coordinate engineering changes and their impact on master data, customs classification and import requirements.
Conduct self‑audits of classifications and customs data
maintain sops and work instructions related to classification and customs compliance
provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on classification and trade compliance topics
job profile
bachelor’s degree in international trade, customs administration, business, logistics, or related field (equivalent experience may be considered)
3–7 years of experience in:
customs classification and trade compliance
immex manufacturing or maquiladora environment preferred
demonstrated experience classifying products under both mexican and u.s. tariff schedules
practical knowledge of customs operations on the mx–us border
strong working knowledge of:
hs nomenclature and general rules of interpretation (gris)
mexican tigie / ligie
u.s. Htsus
immex regulations and permits
ability to read and interpret technical documentation and engineering drawings
bilingual: spanish and english (professional proficiency required)
