role purpose
the regional buyer is responsible for sourcing products and managing local suppliers for commodities not handled centrally. This role requires strong local market knowledge, supplier coordination, and alignment with plant manufacturing strategies, including variable capacity and outsourcing.
key responsibilities
* procurement & sourcing
* execute procurement activities to meet specific goals, ensuring compliance with established systems and protocols.
* identify and evaluate suppliers, collect market intelligence, and provide insights on cost drivers, innovations, and alternative sources.
* contract management
* define contract requirements and prepare specifications for new and existing agreements.
* coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, acting as the primary point of contact to ensure contract deliverables.
* buying & negotiation
* lead vendor negotiations and manage purchasing for assigned products or services.
* support long-term purchasing strategies, ensuring compliance and cost optimization.
* data & reporting
* collect, analyze, and report procurement data to support decision-making.
* prepare documentation and reports with accuracy and clarity.
* cost & compliance
* evaluate costs, identify variances, and propose opportunities to improve profitability.
* ensure compliance with company policies, regulations, and audit requirements.
* stakeholder engagement
* collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.
* support initiatives in cashflow savings, stock reduction, commodity strategies, and price negotiations.

education & experience
* degree in procurement, supply chain, business administration, or related field.
* 3–5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, and supply management.
* preferred background in automotive or manufacturing industries.
* experience handling commodities such as steel, chemicals, plastics, and miscellaneous materials.
* exposure to international markets (u.s., mexico, brazil).
