As an cost estimation ford champ, you will be responsible of supports the global total cost team by assisting engineering, design, and testing (ed&t) cost estimators in analyzing supplier quotes, preparing cost status updates, and maintaining structured cost‑estimation deliverables. Under close supervision, the trainee learns ford cost estimation methods and program timing fundamentals to help improve efficiency and enable cost optimization opportunities across vehicle programs and commodities.
Responsibilities
quote & cost analysis support: assist in reviewing supplier quotes and cost breakdowns to identify cost drivers, variances, and potential optimization opportunities.
Data preparation & reporting: compile and organize ed&t cost data; support the creation of cost status summaries, dashboards, and recurring updates for internal stakeholders.
Program/commodity tracking: help maintain trackers for program timing, milestones, estimator assignments, and deliverables to ensure visibility and on‑time support.
Closed‑loop feedback support: help document issues, lessons learned, and feedback items to support alignment between cost optimization activities and up‑front estimation‑setting teams.
Process documentation: support the documentation of standard work, templates, and process maps; identify inconsistencies and propose improvements for review by the team.
Gpds exposure & learning: learn and apply basic ford gpds concepts (milestones, deliverables, timing) as relevant to ed&t cost activities.
Team collaboration: participate in team meetings, take minutes/action items, and coordinate follow‑ups with engineering/purchasing/suppliers as requested (under supervision).
Qualifications
active student from any of the last 2 semesters of bachelor’s degree program (in progress) in engineering or related field: mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, electronics, systems, software, industrial engineering, or similar.
90% english skills (oral, reading, writing, and listening)
strong analytical and communication skills
basic proficiency in excel (tables, formulas, sorting/filtering; pivot tables a plus).
Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and willingness to learn structured processes.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Interest or coursework related to cost, manufacturing, purchasing, or product development.
Familiarity with data visualization tools (power bi) or presentation tools (powerpoint).
Experience in student projects involving supplier comparisons, boms, or cost models.
