product engineer - impact and opportunity
design products according to customer specifications.
essential functions and responsibilities
* ensure that products are designed within industry standards according to applicable specifications in a safe, cost-efficient, and timely manner while following the apqp process.
* maintain correct engineering and technical disciplines.
* organize manufacturing and industrial engineering documentation for new and existing products.
* create and maintain dfmea, dvp & r, bom, and drawings (including design layout and calculations).
* initiate, review, and release drawings.
* continuously improve existing product designs and internal processes to increase customer satisfaction (ci and vave initiatives) and participate in problem-solving.
* ensure dfma.
* manage design-related documents/changes in pdm, sap, and throughout the product lifecycle (including ecr/eco process).
* ensure functional and safe prototypes with necessary documentation and drawings.
* identify project timelines from design through production and service.
* support and participate in engineering development meetings and program launches with customers.
* act as a technical liaison between customer and project management.
* produce product drawings per cad guidelines and customer requirements.
* produce tool drawings ensuring efficient material usage and minimal manufacturing time.
minimum qualifications
* degree in engineering or equivalent technical degree or experience.
* minimum 2 years of engineering experience.
* fmea methodology knowledge.
* autocad proficiency.
* initiative, adaptability, effective communication, teamwork, innovation, and creativity.
preferred qualifications
* at least 1 year using autocad.
* 3d modeling skills are an asset.
* automotive-related experience (apqp, fmea) is an asset.
* basic knowledge of iatf 16949, iso 14001 & iso 45001 standards.
