key responsibilities
- performance management and service delivery: ensuring accurate accounting and financial reporting within prescribed deadlines and in compliance with ifrs; preparing accurate journal entries and monthly balance sheet reconciliations; collaborating with local stakeholders for timely issue resolution; proactively communicating with finance colleagues and regional accounting teams to address queries; meeting sla/kpi targets and addressing internal and external inquiries.
- compliance: adhere to internal and external audit requirements and maintain effective internal controls.
- people management: support the financial reporting & accounting (fra) ops work style with inclusiveness, proactivity, respect, and results‑driven behavior aligned with alcon values and behaviors.
- service‑oriented support: enable service lines to deliver a high‑performing organization and contribute to process improvements and standard solutions, cultivating a customer‑service focus culture.
qualifications
- undergraduate degree in accounting and/or finance required; master’s or advanced degree preferred.
- intermediate english proficiency (conversation, reading, writing).
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in accounting (mid‑to‑senior level) with a track record of accurate accounting and financial reporting.
- strong knowledge of ifrs, balance‑sheet reviews, reconciliations, and statutory/corporate accounting.
- experience supporting internal and external audits with a solid grasp of internal and financial controls.
- proficiency in erp systems (sap/oracle) and advanced excel skills; familiarity with word and powerpoint.
- excellent communication, organizational, and planning abilities; strong analytical skills focused on delivering results within deadlines; stakeholder management skills.
