general job description
under general guidance, the employee will:
1. provide efficient and safe delivery and pickup of packages.
2. check packages for proper labeling, legality of content, weight and size, proper wrapping, insurance values, and any special requirements for hazardous materials.
3. prepare necessary paperwork related to pickup and delivery, such as airway bills, delivery records, and vehicle condition reports, ensuring neatness and accuracy.
4. seek additional business from current customers; if unsuccessful, pass leads to the sales manager.
5. inform the station operations manager and sales team of changes in customer or competitor efforts.
6. load company vehicles safely.
7. audit package size and weight, and sort packages accordingly.
8. ensure the use of safety equipment and full compliance with fedex safety policies and procedures.
9. operate company vehicles safely and perform basic vehicle maintenance, such as cleaning, washing, and checking tire pressure.
10. assist in unloading customer merchandise, verifying quality and quantity, and palletizing when necessary.
11. arrange products on racks using forklifts or skids (note: only certified employees may operate forklifts).
12. fulfill physical orders using work tools like handheld scanners and pcs (wms and/or excel).
13. perform value-added tasks such as product review, kit assembly, labeling, and packaging.
14. perform other duties as assigned.
minimum requirements
education: middle school degree or equivalent preferred. Basic english skills required.
experience: general knowledge of warehouse operations, packaging, and inventories. Experience with ramp and warehouse equipment is preferred.
skills: ability to lift 55 lbs (25 kg) and maneuver packages up to 150 lbs (68 kg) with appropriate equipment. Ability to work variable shifts. Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge and experience with power and hand tools is a plus. Must pass the reading, map reading, sorting, and math sections of the basic skills test. Attention to detail, planning, organizing, problem-solving, and teamwork skills are essential.
