This position focuses on performing full-vehicle transient thermal CAE analyses to support Ford's vehicle development programs, with emphasis on front-end cooling, under-hood and body component thermal robustness, and cabin comfort.
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute comprehensive vehicle transient thermal CAE modeling from data collection to post-processing, including CAD data acquisition, model cleanup, meshing, boundary condition setup, and result interpretation.
- Conduct and support advanced Frontend CAE analyses (e.g., 3D airflow, heat exchanger and fan sizing), optimize front-end openings and grille designs to meet airflow and performance targets across vehicle development stages.
- Perform CAE evaluations on exterior design proposals to support design theme selection while aligning with performance objectives during the studio design phase.
- Collaborate with the Aerodynamics team to balance thermal design considerations with aerodynamic efficiency to achieve overall vehicle performance goals.
- Work with the thermal program team and stakeholders to ensure optimal thermal environments for all under-hood and body components throughout the development lifecycle.
- Evaluate and optimize the cabin thermal environment to enhance energy efficiency and human comfort, adhering to comfort standards and performance benchmarks.
- Interface with the global Ford teams (global thermal teams, CAD, CAE integration, D&R;, and others) to align with integral strategies and standards.
- Document all CAE work and outcomes in accordance with Ford’s Thermal Process, ensuring traceability and compliance with internal procedures.
- Continuously improve CAE processes and methodologies to enhance accuracy, capabilities, turnaround time, and cost-effectiveness.
- Provide expert technical recommendations on design optimizations and issue resolution based on CAE data.
- Present findings to thermal program engineers, department partners, and leadership with clear communication of results and decisions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Product Engineering.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience using CFD and CAD tools to perform thermal analysis for complete vehicle systems.
- Proficiency in: Catia/3DX/TeamCenter, ANSA/Hypermesh, TAITherm, CCM+/UH3D/OpenFOAM, and EnSight, with automotive or aerospace application experience.
- Experience in a globally distributed team environment.

- Master of Science in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering or higher, with specialization in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, or HEV battery technologies.
