Job overview
serves as a risk analyst for independent compliance risk management (icrm)'s exam management and regulatory liaison office responsible for the promotion, support, monitoring and reporting on citi's interactions with its regulators, including queries arising in the course of business outside of specific examinations, and managing supervisory examinations, globally.
Responsibilities

working with senior staff in establishing internal strategies, policies, procedures, processes, and programs to prevent violations of law, rule, or regulation and design and deliver a risk management framework that maintains risk levels within the firm’s risk appetite and protect the franchise.
Engage with the icrm product and function coverage teams to partner in developing and applying crm program solutions that meet business and customer needs consistently with the citi program framework.
Coordinate and execute regulatory examinations, including franchise‑relevant regulatory reviews and other supervisory activity impacting citi businesses and control functions.
Liaise with supervisory agency teams, responding to ad‑hoc requests/inquiries and hosting meetings with senior managers as part of ongoing supervision.
Work with regional exam management and regulatory liaison offices, local advisory compliance teams, business, risk, legal, operations, and technology to collect, produce, and submit responsive documents and information.
Identify and elevate issues arising during regulatory examinations and supervisory activity.
Promote awareness of trends discovered during exam management and drive common messaging across the organization and geographies.
Participate in uat testing and working groups to refine the firm’s regulatory tracking processes, standards, and systems.
Prepare internal reporting and track exams (and associated requests) in a timely manner.
Develop, enhance, and promote the use of globally consistent communication tools, templates, and presentations.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Assess risk in business decisions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adherence to policy, ethical judgment, and transparent reporting of control issues.

Qualifications

knowledge of compliance laws, rules, regulations, risks, and typologies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to navigate a complex organization and work with regional and global partners.

Knowledgeable in the area of focus.
Bachelor’s degree; experience in compliance, legal, or other control‑related functions in the financial services firm, regulatory organization, or legal/consulting firm. Advanced degree is a plus.

The regulatory engagement (re) team
responsible for the consistency in promotion, support, monitoring, and reporting on banamex’s communications with its regulators. In mexico, the re team supports the franchise. The team is a change agent within banamexi aimed at enhancing the regulatory engagement control culture of the financial group worldwide and supporting senior‑management decision making. This role meets key regulatory expectations from banamex’s main regulators, addressing concerns to improve the firm’s risk and control environment.
Regulatory engagement assistant vice president (avp) role
the regulatory engagement assistant vice president (avp) role will support the in‑business regulatory engagement head by:

developing and monitoring oversight over and communications during regulatory engagements.
Implementing common standards, procedures, and governance processes to create and maintain consistent, best‑in‑class regulatory engagements and communication protocols.
Providing clear and consistent supervisory messaging for all communications between regulators and the financial group.

The role involves close liaison with regulators, senior management, businesses, and functions (1st line of defense and enterprise support), 2nd line of defense, and 3rd line of defense across the financial group.
Key responsibilities

Provide day‑to‑day support and guidance on the model, processes, and practices related to regulatory engagement.
Contribute to continuous improvement of the model, processes, practices, and coverage through product delivery.
Lead reviews related to regulatory engagement products.
Review and improve the model, processes, and practices, including innovation initiatives.
Lead periodic ad‑hoc projects (e.g., research and development of regulatory engagement specific training).
Assist the in‑business regulatory engagement head in reviewing key internal and external deliverables.
Manage multiple competing priorities and meet strict internal and external deadlines.
Operate independently as a partner across the financial group at all levels.
Support the regulatory engagement head in fostering strong partnerships with businesses and functions, both 2nd and 3rd lines of defense.
Act as a change agent in continuous improvement programs, sharing best practices and lessons learned.
Coordinate delivery of model, processes, and practice training to businesses and functions, including tailored training as needed.
Maintain stakeholder communications through meetings as assigned by the regulatory engagement head.
Ensure implementation of assigned responsibilities of the banamex transformation program.
Integrate all issues into the framework, ensuring consistency, escalation, and timely completion of action plans.
Integrate and measure regulatory engagement activities (exams, interactions, meetings, enforcement actions, issues).
Report and follow up on engagement activities.
Align the framework to regulator requests.
Ensure compliance with banamex policies, specifically those related to regulatory exam management and oversight standards.

Qualification and competencies

articulate and effective communicator, both orally and in writing, with an energetic, charismatic, and approachable style.
Effective persuasion skills and the ability to work at the highest levels of the organization, with strong networking and influencing skills.
Intermediate communication and documentation skills in english.
Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and capable of multitasking across regulatory engagement initiatives (e.g., scorecard vs. regulatory deliverables).
Ability to meet strict internal and external deadlines.
Strong data analytics skills; experience identifying risk and anomalies within the internal control environment.
Proficient in office suite (access, excel, powerpoint, word, outlook).
Demonstrated ability to remain unbiased in a diverse working environment.
Strong knowledge of local regulation (cnbv, banxico, ipab, condusef).
Experience with a supervisory cycle as part of an entity supervised by the local regulator.
Preferred experience as a team coordinator in on‑field regulator reviews.
High level of understanding in risk identification and proficiency in control matters and regulatory compliance.
