* networking (lan/wan, routing, vlans)
* strong foundation in lan/wan architectures and routing principles.
* ability to configure vlans, ip addressing, dhcp, static routes, and troubleshoot network path issues.
* experience validating rig‐site connectivity and ensuring stable data channels for real‐time services.
* firewall configuration (pa-vm, nat, vpn)
* experience configuring palo alto vm-series firewalls, including security policies, nat rules, and vpn tunnels.
* understanding of segmentation, traffic filtering, and log analysis for secure data transport.
* ability to apply firewall templates and ensure compliance with security standards across deployments.
* virtual networking
* capable of setting up virtual switches, vlan mappings, nic configurations, and trunked interfaces.
* ensures secure, deterministic data paths between physical and virtual components.
* hypervisors (desirable competency)
* hands‐on experience with hypervisors such as kvm or vmware esxi to deploy and manage virtual machines.
* skilled in resource allocation (cpu, memory, storage) and configuring virtual networking to support real‐time workloads.
* ensures stable and optimized environments for data acquisition and processing applications.
* edge orchestration (desirable competency)
* experience with orchestration platforms such as zededa or lightweight kubernetes (k3s/microk8s).
* ability to automate workload deployments, manage configuration consistency, and monitor application lifecycle across distributed edge nodes.
* supports scalable, secure, and consistent deployments in multi‐rig environments.
