the role
we're looking for a quickbooks online (qbo) specialist to help us tighten our month-end close, invoicing, ar/ap workflows, and ongoing qbo hygiene. You'll partner with our vp of finance to accelerate the close and keep our books investor-ready.
what you'll do
month-end close in qbo: bank/amex reconciliations, accruals/deferrals, vendor bill review, journal entries, variance checks.
invoicing support: ensure invoice detail accuracy; investigate discrepancies with contracts/pricing.
ar/ap management: aging reviews, collections follow-ups, vendor payments scheduling, vendor data upkeep.
qbo hygiene & cleanup: chart-of-accounts consistency, class/location use, attachment policies, rules, and memos.
process automation: propose/implement lightweight automations in qbo/sheets; comfort collaborating with ai agents for recurring tasks.
what you'll need
qbo certification (active) or equivalent proof of expertise.
3+ years hands-on bookkeeping/accounting in quickbooks online (us instance).
experience with month-end close for startups/smbs; can work independently and hit deadlines.
english proficiency (written/spoken) to coordinate with us-based leaders.
solid excel/google sheets skills.
nice to have
familiarity with us gaap basics for smbs/startups; mexico payroll/tax exposure is a plus.
prior work cleaning messy qbo files, redesigning coa, and documenting workflows.
hours & collaboration
~15–20 hours/week to start (flexible); ability to flex up around month-end.
workable overlap with mexico city and some us business hours.
compensation
competitive hourly contractor rate (paid in mxn). Please include your expected range.
