we have been retained by a renowned global leader specializing in connection systems to find a human resources manager to oversee one plant in a multi-site campus in mexicali. Our client is committed to providing innovative products and services to clients worldwide. They manufacture high-speed cable products with a primary focus on e-vehicles, energy storage, and consumer goods. This industry giant boasts annual sales of nearly $14 billion usd. As a result of growth, our client seeks a human resources manager to join their recent start-up plant in mexicali, b.c., mexico.

the position

human resources manager

reporting to the hsio plant manager, the human resources manager’s role is to provide leadership and management of a multi-function team in the areas of safety, environmental, work environment, internal policies and procedures, talent recruitment, and development. The human resources manager is accountable for providing the best work environment and developing plans for talent. Driving a culture of continuous improvement in all facets of the operation is necessary for success. This plant is still in the latter end of a start-up phase but still in an aggressive ramp-up phase. This plant is part of a multi-site campus.

main responsibilities:

* ensuring that health and safety regulations are met.
* determining and implementing world-class safety control mindset and standards.
* coordinating successful implementation and compliance with the responsible business alliance (rba).
* partnering with plant manager to manage salary/hourly manpower, training, and development.
* developing and implementing safety and environmental procedures to ensure that manufacturing processes run reliably and efficiently with the objective of zero accidents.
* accountable for maintaining and improving the bu expense of recruitment, hiring, employee transportation, and cleaning services.
* providing leadership and talent development to staff, including establishing objectives, setting goals, and managing accountability for attaining deliverables.
* directing and supervising the recruitment and selection of indirect personnel.
* coordinating actions to meet minimum staffing requirements.
* listening to and resolving conflicts supervisors and employees.
* supervising the activities of the human resources team.
* developing policies and procedures for compliance with the code of labor conduct and ethics.
* developing strategies for employee retention and turnover reduction.
* managing the proper application of incentives and salary increases.
* generating statistical reports for the corporate office.
* ensuring compliance with the federal labor law and the internal labor regulations.

the candidate

* bachelor’s degree in human resources, psychology, business administration, or a related field.
* minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role as human resources manager or possibly a senior hr generalist in a large manufacturing operation who has solid leadership qualities and is ready for a promotion to hr manager.
* solid knowledge of mexican labor law, labor relations and hr practices.
* human resources generalist background to include general knowledge and some experience overseeing safety, eh&s, recruitment, training, talent development, compensation and benefits, labor compliance and general affairs.
* fluent in english (85%+) and spanish.
* advanced proficiency in microsoft office suite and tress software skills desired.
* solid management and leadership skills with the ability to manage priorities effectively.
* strong decision-making skills coupled with strong problem-solving skills and strategic thinking.
* team-oriented mindset and ability to build interpersonal relationships.
* excellent negotiation skills.
* fast paced and proactive with outstanding communication abilities.
* open to travel.
* familiarity with mexicali is highly preferred.
