position description: as a carrier sales and operations representative, you will play a crucial role at redwood multimodal and our digital freight brokerage by identifying, sourcing, and developing strong business relationships with service providers to achieve maximum profitability and customer satisfaction.
responsibilities:
* build and maintain new and current strategic carrier profiles through research and networking and align redwood truckload sales opportunities.
* actively engage carrier partners primarily by phone, targeting 80+ dials per day.
* introduce the redwood digital freight brokerage (dfb) product to carrier prospects, profiling 20 new carriers per day.
* engage in continuous follow up to carriers, understanding what network offers work, which lanes are an ideal fit, and reinforcing the value proposition to the carrier partners.
* build understanding of macro-market conditions and how they impact truckload rates and capacity.
* resolve carrier relations and accounting issues; provide and negotiate freight rates to motor carriers and internal sales team as needed.
* coordinate available customer freight with available motor carrier equipment.
* maintain a file of all open truck shipments and records of trailers in assigned areas; communicate with motor carriers to schedule trucks and resolve issues.
* verify all freight charges, confirm receipt of bill of lading, and resolve payables discrepancies prior to final payment to motor carriers; monitor bill of lading discrepancies to ensure proper return of commodity as necessary.
* actively seek redwood contract lanes and create a dedicated capacity solution.
* research, contact, and develop new carrier relationships to leverage a portfolio of carrier networks to introduce new capacity to customer sales opportunities.
* resolve carrier relations and accounting issues.
qualifications:
* bi-lingual in english and spanish
* strong communication skills both orally and written
* ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
* pro-active problem solver and listener; ability to multi-task
* 1-2 years of business experience in a bi-lingual environment
* logistics experience preferred, but not required
