we are seeking an exceptional managing editor to own and elevate the editorial production pipeline for a fast-growing content operations team.
this role sits at the intersection of editorial excellence, ai-assisted workflows, and content operations systems. The managing editor is responsible for ensuring that every piece of content shipped to clients meets a high editorial standard while continuously improving the systems that produce it.
you will manage multiple client accounts simultaneously, working closely with engagement managers who define client priorities and collaborating with pipeline engineers who maintain the underlying ai workflows.
while ai tools play an important role in the production process, human editorial judgment remains the most critical element of this role. The ideal candidate knows how to transform ai-generated drafts into polished, accurate, client-ready content — and how to improve systems so the outputs get better over time.

key responsibilities editorial quality ownership
edit and refine content to a client-ready standard, ensuring clarity, accuracy, voice consistency, and structural integrity.
serve as the final quality checkpoint before content is delivered to clients.
identify factual inconsistencies, weak arguments, structural issues, and ai-generated inaccuracies.
content production management
manage editorial production across multiple client accounts simultaneously.
maintain editorial calendars and ensure consistent on-time delivery of weekly content.
balance different client voices, industries, and quality expectations.
ai workflow optimization
work within ai-assisted content pipelines and continuously improve output quality through better editing, prompts, and process improvements.
identify patterns in ai failures (hallucinations, weak reasoning, tone issues) and propose improvements to reduce future errors.
provide structured feedback on production pipelines when systemic issues appear.
document problems clearly and propose actionable solutions for engineers and operations leads.
contribute to iterative improvements that increase output quality and reduce manual editing time.
cross-functional collaboration
partner with pipeline engineers, content strategists, and engagement managers to improve workflows and client deliverables.
create documentation and editorial standards that improve team consistency.
required qualifications strong editorial judgment
proven ability to edit quickly while maintaining high standards for clarity, accuracy, and audience fit.
able to distinguish between meaningful improvements and minor stylistic changes.
experience editing ai-generated content
hands-on experience editing llm-generated content (chatgpt, claude, gemini, etc.).
strong understanding of common llm weaknesses including:
* hallucinated facts
* weak reasoning
* repetitive structure
* generic tone
systems thinking
ability to identify recurring issues and propose upstream solutions rather than one-off fixes.
comfortable thinking in terms of feedback loops, pipelines, and process optimization.
multi-client workflow management
experience managing high-volume editorial workflows across multiple projects or clients.
strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
b2b content experience
experience working with technical or business content, including industries such as:
* saas
* cybersecurity
* fintech
communication & documentation
ability to provide clear, actionable feedback engineers and content teams can execute on.
strong documentation habits for processes and editorial standards.
nice-to-have qualifications
* experience with seo tools such as ahrefs, semrush, or google search console
* background in content operations or editorial workflow management
* experience with project management tools (linear, asana, notion)
* familiarity with cms platforms such as wordpress or webflow
* experience working in ai-first or automation-driven content environments
what success looks like
within the first 90 days, a successful managing editor will:
* independently manage 3–4 client content accounts
* consistently deliver high-quality content on schedule
* provide structured pipeline feedback that improves output quality
* develop strong client context and editorial instincts that require minimal oversight
* contribute to improvements that reduce editing workload and increase system efficiency
