this position is subject to a range of vetting checks, including a criminal records check and/or disclosure to ensure program participants are safeguarded.about this rolethe regional business development (bd) specialist – livelihoods will provide strategic and technical leadership to grow childfund's livelihoods programming across the americas.
the specialist will focus on positioning the organization with key donors, supporting the design and development of quality proposals, strengthening visibility and partnerships, and ensuring technical quality aligned with childfund's livelihoods operational guide and theory of change.this is a full-time, fixed position funded through june 30, *.
this is a remote position open to candidates with current residence and work authorization in mexico, honduras, guatemala, ecuador, bolivia, or brazil.required experience and educationbachelor's degree in international affairs, gender studies, social work, public health, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.at least 6-8 years of experience in business development or fundraising in the international development or humanitarian sector.demonstrated success in writing winning proposals for donors such as usaid, idb, global affairs canada, eu, and private foundations, among others.experience in latin america or the caribbean region.primary responsibilities1.
business development and resource mobilizationidentify and pursue institutional and private funding opportunities aligned with the livelihoods strategy and building sustainability strategy mainstreaming components on sustainable land, food and water security.lead and support proposal development efforts in collaboration with country offices (cos), technical teams, and partners.translate childfund's livelihoods operational guide and theory of change into donor-friendly narratives embedding building sustainability results framework and blended model activities that support sustainable livelihoods.track donor trends such as sustainable livelihoods, economic transitions and market demands from private sector and provide strategic advice to strengthen fundraising pipelines.facilitate opportunity scoping, partner vetting, bid strategy, proposal development, and post-submission learning across the proposal lifecycle.2.
strategic positioning and partnership buildingposition childfund as a leader in livelihoods development and youth economic empowerment in the americas.build and maintain relationships with donors, implementing partners, and private sector actors.represent childfund in relevant networks, working groups, and platforms.lead regional fundraising strategies informed by childfund's livelihood operational guide, youth engagement strategy, and strategic partnerships, including cross-cutting areas with environmentally sustainable livelihood in the building sustainability strategy.3.
technical collaboration and quality assuranceensure regional and country offices proposals reflect evidence-based approaches in areas such as youth entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, and sustainability, including environmental sustainability.work with technical leads to integrate cross-cutting areas (gender, youth leadership, digital inclusion, protection and environmental sustainability) into design processes.provide quality assurance on program design tools, logical frameworks, and result measurement strategies aligning with childfunds' result framework and operational guidance and donor requirements and trends in the sector.collaborate closely with regional technical advisors, mel leads, and grants management staff to ensure strategic alignment, data use in design, and compliance with donor requirements.4.
knowledge management and learningfacilitate documentation and dissemination of lessons learned, success stories, and case studies.lead evidence-informed learning and donor feedback integration loops to continuously improve design and positioning.use adaptive learning approaches and monitoring systems to inform ongoing bd efforts.strengthen capacities in country offices.5.

developing proficiency in english required.fluency in english and/or portuguese is a plus.familiarity with integrated programming in food security, digital skills, vocational training, and youth-led entrepreneurship.deep understanding and experience in youth livelihoods, agrifood systems, market systems, financial inclusion strategies and sustainable economic trends such as green, blue and circular economy.excellent technical writing skills and ability to craft proposal narratives aligned to organization results framework and donor expectations.strong networking and relationship-building skills.proficiency with microsoft office suite of applications.the ability to work effectively in a remote, technology-enabled, international environment.results-based management and m&e understanding.other criteriawillingness to travel internationally up to 30% in the americas region.
