What you’ll do
a reliability engineer improves equipment reliability and availability through failure analysis, maintenance strategy optimization, and data-driven continuous improvement initiatives focused on eliminating recurring losses and reducing unplanned downtime.
essential functions
* drive continuous improvement projects focused on equipment reliability, downtime reduction, and elimination of recurring failures.
* define reliability standards and improvement strategies for control systems and equipment, ensuring consistent application across the plant.
* analyze equipment performance data and failure trends (mtbf, mttr, pm%, availability) to identify improvement opportunities and prioritize initiatives.
* lead structured root cause analysis (rcfa/rca) for chronic equipment issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented and sustained by maintenance teams.
* support maintenance and engineering teams by providing guidance, coaching and recommendations for improving equipment stability, not by executing technical repairs.
* collaborate with engineering and core team to optimize preventive and predictive maintenance strategies based on data, historical performance, and risk analysis.
* define criteria for critical electronic components and system standardization, supporting spare part strategy and long term risk reduction.
* enable continuous improvement capability by coaching technicians and engineers on reliability best practices, problem solving methodologies, and lessons learned.
* support new product introduction (npi) and equipment projects by ensuring reliability, maintainability, and ci principles are considered during design and deployment.
* promote a strong safety and ci culture, ensuring all improvement initiatives comply with ehs requirements and eaton’s ethics, values, and quality policies.
* lead and improve equipment reliability pfmea.
* lead cost out projects related to maintenance improvements and/or materials to achieve cost out goals.
basic qualifications
* bachelor degree in engineering (industrial, electrical, mechanical, etc).
* 3+ years of experience in equipment reliability, maintenance improvement, or continuous improvement.
technical knowledge
* reliability and failure analysis.
* equipment performance metrics analysis (mtbf, mttr, pm%, availability).
* continuous improvement methodologies (ci, lean, tpm).
* intermediate to advanced english proficiency (business conversations).
* six sigma certification desirable.
soft skills
* demonstrates responsibility, effective communication skills, teamwork, and initiative.
