*what you will bring to the team*
toshiba is seeking an experienced software development manager who will be responsible for leading a department of direct reports that will include 5-12 programmers.
responsibilities will include guiding and supporting the team throughout the development and successful deployment of new product releases, optimizing development processes and team efficiencies, challenging the team technically and participating in scrum and code reviews, managing capacity and personnel matters. The manager will be expected to contribute directly to the code base at a capacity of 25%-50% of a senior developer. Individual code contribution is dependent on the number of their reports.
this position requires proven knowledge of software development processes, previous software development (writing code preferably in c++ and java) experience, extensive people management experience and the skills listed below necessary to carry out the responsibilities for project activities across a broad, cross functional, geographically diverse team.
*what you will be doing*:
responsibilities of the technical development manager will include:
- delivery of high-quality product releases and functionality.
- managing the performance of the development team ensuring product commitments are met.
- enabling the development and support of an innovative product.
- promote continuous process improvement. Ensuring agile/safe practices are applied and followed.
- driving the team through scrum participation.
- reviewing and writing code as necessary to ensure proper coding practices are followed.
*naturally to be successful in this role, you must have and know of*
- bachelor's degree.
- full understanding of the software development lifecycle and bring a product to production
- extensive experience in managing software development teams and projects.
- people management experience including performance management, motivation, career development and dealing with conflict.
- excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- good analytic and logical problem solving skills.
- strong collaborative and teaming skills.
- 5+ years of experience in agile development.
- 5+ years previous experience as a developer, preferably in c++ and java
- understanding of test automation and test driven development
- fluent english
preferred skills:
- pmp certification (any other project management related certification)
- retail industry domain, including point of sales and payments
- devops, ci/cd technologies and practices
